Next Stage...

Well, it looks like my wife and I will be moving onto a new stage of parenthood, life without diapers. Yahoo!! Our little guy finally decided that he would get on board with the whole potty training thing and has actually gone three days without an accident. Sure it took some Tonka trucks and a little bribery but hey, when it comes to potty training the end does justify the means. We have been changing diapers continuoualy for nearly 6 years now and it is nice to move on. Anyways, as much as it is nice to think about not changing diapers there is some sadness in looking at my little boy and thinking about the part of my life as the father of a little baby being over. However, then the memory of runny pooh comes back to me and I think, Yahoo, no more changing diapers!!

Like Father .....

Nothing makes you realize what goes around comes around like fatherhood. I was picking my son up from Kindergarten today and I happened to be waiting with a mom who attended the same school elementary school with me years ago. It is kinda of neat that her daughter and my son are in kindergarten together and can look at the old school pictures and see their parents as little kids in the same class. Anyways, that is another story. While I was waiting for my son I was peaking in through the window and I see all the little kids coming out of the room, single file, neatly spaced, until there is a large gap in the line. Suddenly, I see my son appear. He takes a few steps and then stops abruptly so all of the kids behind run into him. He goes a few more steps and stops again. The kids all seem to find this hilarious, as 5 year olds tend to do, and I begin shaking my head. The mother standing beside me, who's daughter of course was walking very nicely in line, laughed and said "What do you expect don't you remember what you were like?' Suddenly it hit me, it is going to be a long 13 years until graduation.

Priorities

Do you ever just stop and think "Man, how the hell did I ever get so lucky"? Well, thanks to my wife and my two boys I do on a regular basis. It is amazing what being surrounded by people you love more than anything in the world can do for a persons priorities.
